Hosted by Barb and Pat Franc, this fundraiser benefits the Garrett Regional Medical Center Foundation. Open to the public, is supports the GMRC’s Behavioral Health Center. There will be a cash bar, drink specials, and live music.

Fletcher’s Spring Fling
May 5, 6:30PM
Join us for a Fun Filled Celebration of Fletcher’s Miracle Journey! Fletcher’s Spring Fling is a fundraising event to benefit Fletcher Layne Fazenbaker’s family. She was born with a rare congenital brain tumor and received treatment at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Her family is experiencing financial burdens due to the time away from home, work and their business. There will be live music by the Remedy, food by Goehringer’s Catering, bouquet bar by Jeffries Farm, The Travel Mug Coffee Trailer, games, prizes & more!

Mountain Maryland Native Plant Festival

Event Description:
Come and build Sumo Wrestling Robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS.SuGO teams form at 1:00pm, and build until 3:30pm. Teams can be families or friends and No experience is necessary. All equipment is provided, and help is available for rookie teams. At 3:00, teams move to the arena and the SuGO bots battle it out tournament style.

This is a great activity for LEGO lovers of all ages.

Forty-five+ artists display and sell their work in the magnificent setting of Deep Creek Lake State Park. Artwork for sale includes jewelry, photography, wood working, pottery, fused glass, furniture, soaps, rugs, paintings, baskets, and so much more.  All handmade.  Arrive by boat, car or on foot.  Enter thru the gate of the park.  (Park service fee does apply.)  Entertainment, food, naturalist programs and children’s art tent among the featured activities.  Co-sponsored by Western Garrett County State Park Volunteers and Garrett County Arts Council.  Plan to come for the day to enjoy the Art in the Park, the beach, and all the park has to offer.  For more information contact 301-387-7067.

Garrett County Humane Society Dog-Gone Fundraiser

The Garrett County Humane Society’s Dog-Gone FUNdraiser will be held on Saturday, July 13, at the Garrett County Fairgrounds starting at 10 a.m.

“This annual event offers free admission to a day of fun events to help our local volunteer organization raise the funds we need to continue to help homeless and neglected animals in Garrett County,” said GCHS president Lisa Baker.

Activities will include the Benefit Dog Walk; Canine Costume Contest, Meet the Breed; two special dog demonstrations and a large silent auction.

A snack bar will be available and raffle tickets with three cash prizes will be for sale until the drawings at 2:30 p.m.

The first 100 people to attend will receive a free “goodie” bag and there will be a small cash-and-carry gift corner.

The silent auction will include gift items for bidders, including restaurant/store gift certificates and Pittsburgh Zoo, Carnegie Natural History Museum and Phipps Conservatory tickets.  Bids will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

A new event added last year is a small live auction slated for 2:00 p.m.  A Washington Capitals hockey puck, a Steelers Troy Polamalu print and a Baltimore Orioles print are among the items are available.

Little Wonders Petting Zoo will be on site with various creatures for you to meet and Pleasant Valley Grooming will be offering nail trims for a small donation.

Forms to pre-register for the Benefit Dog Walk are available at any of the local veterinarian offices or on the GCHS website at www.garrettcohumanesociety.com.

The popular Canine Costume Contest is set for 12:30 p.m.  There is a $10/dog fee to enter the event and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners.
