Overlook Pass

The county commissioners approved to maintain the road Overlook Pass including Winter Maintenance.

Overlook Pass – Overlook Pass is a roadway leading to and from Marsh Hill Road and Wisp Mountain Road and, while not part of the county road system, was utilized by the general public as if it were a public road. The prior Board of Commissioners agreed to partially fund winter maintenance of the road, a practice that the current Board continued. Since the road did not meet “current” County specifications the road was not accepted into the County road system. The Board of Commissioners have agreed to accept Overlook Pass as a County road; 1) has always been used as a public road and is “grandfathered” into specifications and 2) serves a number of homes and businesses as well as future development in the area.

Gordon Felt has been working for 14 years to see his brother, Edward, and all 40 passengers and crew who were aboard United Airlines Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, honored properly.

But Mr. Felt and the families have also long sought to see the story told of what their loved ones endured on that plane, and how what happened that day fit into the larger story of international terrorism.

The Committee guided energy planning in an attempt to maximize positive effects and minimize potentially negative consequences of energy production. Representing a diversity of perspectives, the 12 committee members are private citizens, business owners, and leaders in economic development, health, education, and recreation.

“Working with the Committee has been both enlightening and inspiring,” said Cheryl DeBerry, Natural Resources Business Specialist for Garrett County Economic Development. “Committee members and members of the public have provided us with some great ideas that will help Garrett County government as well as local businesses and residents learn about  energy conservation and efficiency as well as  sustainable energy development.”
